Roisin’s expertise and experience in study skills and the science of learning is second to none. In 2011 she established award-winning social enterprise, Amazing Brains – the only all-island organisation to work annually with 50,000 students in over 300 post-primary schools, delivering study skills and exam preparation workshops in schools. Roisin’s excellence in research, event design and delivery is highly sought after and she is directly responsible for the success of hundreds of annual events with students, parents and teachers.

Roisin holds a Masters Degree in Education (M.Ed with Distinction) from Queen’s University Belfast. Her thesis entitled: ‘It’s a no-brainer – Examining Students’ Views of Intelligence and the Link to Motivation to Learn’ was shortlisted for the BERA (UK Universities) ‘Masters Dissertation of the Year’ award. Her undergraduate degree is in Economics, also from QUB. In addition, she is a CIPD qualified Learning and Development professional with 20 years experience in the youth and education sectors. Roisin began her professional life working along the north and west Belfast peace lines with disaffected and disenfranchised young people. Her roles have ranged from trainer to motivational speaker and personal development coach. She is truly passionate about improving outcomes for young people.

Roisin is a former international sportsperson in hockey and soccer.

Dr Katie Liston

Katie is a highly experienced university lecturer, researcher and education professional.  She holds a PhD in sociology from University College Dublin and has been a fellow of the Higher Education Academy for more than 10 years. Katie, a Limerick native, has worked in the Republic of Ireland, England and Northern Ireland and, in so doing, has academic and practical insights into the needs of learners of all ages, especially those transitioning from post-primary to higher education. Together with Roisin, she has also been involved in the design and development of study skills resources for students, parents and teachers.

As well as being an inspiring and student-centred lecturer, Katie is actively involved in research and she draws on this cumulative expertise to assure the quality and design of all Inspire resources.

Katie has played soccer for the Republic of Ireland, holds all-Ireland football and athletics titles with Co. Kerry, is a GAA All-star and an Ireland A women’s rugby player.

 

Mary Oglesby

As Operations Director, Mary plays a leading role in Inspire Education. She has overall responsibility for the day-to-day activities of the company.

More specifically, Mary liaises with schools and partners to disseminate information on the very latest portfolio of programmes offered by Inspire Education. She specialises in tailoring programmes to the specific needs of clients as well as overseeing the yearly calendar of events. Mary is also responsible for financial and account management within the company.

Mary has worked for Inspire School Planners since it’s formation and she is fully committed to the ethos, aims and vision of the company. Mary is a personable and highly professional individual with over 20 years experience working in senior management roles within commercial organisations.
